Yes, you read it right, I am hopeful. About what, you may ask. World peace? Nope. Gas prices going down? Nope. The latest diet being successful….maybe. But that’s not it. Nope, I am hopeful that tonight, I am going to get a good night’s sleep.
See, many years ago, my bed – well it broke. No, I’m not THAT fat that I broke my bed – I think it was more a case of the frame being old and two twins jumping up on it all the time. Or maybe i’m just fat, who knows. Anyhow, the thing is, it wasn’t blatantly broken. The frame wasn’t bent in half, and the box spring and mattress were still whole.
So for the past few years, I’ve been sleeping on a bed that somehow seems to slide off of the frame just the littlest bit – while I’m sleeping. So I’ve learned to sleep without moving because it’s the movement that makes it do it’s slidey thing. This is NOT a recipe for a good night’s sleep.
I’m looking for a decent affordable box spring and mattress, but I want to go up to a queen sized and that’s a bit expensive. So I decided today to take my bed OFF of the frame and just put the box spring and mattress on the floor. I got them off and was sitting on the floor getting ready to pull the rails out of the headboard and footboard when I saw just the slightest little bend in one of the rails. we’re talking you need a micrometer to measure this. How did I measure it, not owning a micrometer? I put a pen on the part that I thought was bendy and sure enough, it rolled off. I put it on another part that wasn’t bendy and the pen didn’t move. Go me for clever thinking!
So a few phone calls garnered me some new bed rails and the bed is now put back together. We won’t talk about the store that wanted to charge me$100.00 for a set of bed rails. I finally found them for $40.00. There is a whole cleaning story that goes along with this, but that’s a blog for another day. And I’m ready to go to bed tonight and hopefully be able to move around and not have to wake up seven different times to push the box spring and mattress back into position. Fingers crossed people
