It’s the holiday season, and I’m feeling rather grinch like, I must say. I don’t know why, but I am just not into the holidays this year. I don’t know if it’s because my kids are away at college or if it’s due to tight finances. Maybe it’s both, I don’t know.
However ’tis the season and all that, so tomorrow I’m going to climb up into the attic and pull down the decorations. We have a big tree, but lately we haven’t put it up, instead we use a small tree. This is NOT a grinchlike thing, we have a small living room and no place to really put the bigger tree.
I think I’m going to skip cards this year. Postage is so expensive, and honestly, money is tight, and I’d rather put it toward gifts for the kids, not to mention tuition. It kinda sucks because I do like sending out cards.
Shopping wise, I’m mostly ahead of the game. Well, I haven’t got my son’s gif yet, but I know what I’m getting, and him, but it’s a gift I need some help with. Luckily, I have someone who has offered to share his knowledge with me.
The cool thing this year is that I’ve done most of my shopping online, and thanks to the wonder of EBATES, I’m getting cash back! I know a lot of people are saying oh what a scam, but it’s really not. The first thing you do is join ebates. Then you log in, and use their search engine to see if the store you want to shop at is a part of their program. Chances are, it is! Click on whatever online retailer you want to use, and it will take you that site and you shop. A percentage of what you spend is given back to you in the form of a paper check or via paypal. It’s not too shabby. I don’t know how it works, and i don’t care. It makes the shopping and spending of money a bit easier 🙂
However the grinchy feelings still persist. I didn’t even watch Rudolph or Frosty this year 🙁
