Today was a day of reflection. I’m not a veteran, but I, like every other American owe them a HUGE debt of gratitude. Our country would not exist with out the brave men and women who served, and still serve our country today. But something is really bothering me. My facebook and twitter feed are filled up with great pictures of our soldiers and everybody is saying thank you….why are we only doing that today. Our military men and women put their lives on the line day in and day out so that we can live in freedom.
It’s kind of like 9/11. When that tragedy first happened, America pulled together….flags were flying everywhere, patriotic songs could be heard on the radio. It was awesome and amazing. But slowly it petered out, and sure, ever 9/11 we remember….but seriously, we should remember every day. Just like every day, we should be grateful to the men and women who put their lives on the line for us.
I like that we have a specific day for this, but I wish it were every day. I wish our service men and women made a decent wage and were treated like the heroes that they are.
